Placenta Medicine = Sacred Medicine

Placenta Medicine = Sacred Medicine

Your wonderful, beautiful, AMAZING placenta has nourished and sustained your growing baby since conception.  It is full of nutrients, hormones and vital life force.

If this isn’t your first child, you’re well aware of the hurdles (to say the least) of the postpartum period.  If this is your first child, you’ve probably been so focused on the trials of pregnancy and the anxiety surrounding delivery that you’ve relegated postpartum concerns to the back burner, preferring to address them when they arise.

Most assuredly, they will arise.

Following the delivery of your child, those lovely pregnancy hormones you’ve spent the last 9 months adjusting to are going to be cut-off, cold turkey.  This is what accounts for “baby blues,” mood swings, night sweats, hot flashes, excessive lochia, and the emotional upheaval of adjusting to the demands of milk engorged breasts, a brand new infant, and the well meaning (albeit invasive) friends and family surrounding you.

Sigh.

But….here’s the good news.  That lovely organ that has taken care of your baby since the very beginning is there to help you recover.  And so am I.

Think of it as a nicotine patch, a 12 step program, or natural hormone supplementation.  I take your placenta and convert it into a usable, unobtrusive, easily assimilated medicine to reduce the pain of being cut off cold turkey and allow you to step down your hormones and ease into life with baby on the outside.
